Default Networked HP printer installs drivers every print

I'm not sure whether this is a printer or network problem, so here
goes.

Two XP Home computers networked with Netgear DG834G v2 ADSL modem
router and Netgear WG111v2 wireless USB adapter.

HP1350 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier attached to wireless connected
computer.

Modem/Wireless set up working very well.

Problem:
Each time the computers start up they install the 1300 series software,
then each time a print is sent from either of the computers the
software installs again before sending the page to the printer. This
is becoming boring - what have I done wrong? What is the solution?

Cheers
Steve

does the printer has fixed IP in the net or is it getting it from the
DHCP of the router?

It's not on my computers so I will have to go and find out.

When I set the network system up I installed the software on both
computers and shared the printer. Is there anything else that I should
have done?

How exactly did you install the printer on both computers?
Best method is to install the printer on the computer that the printer is
physically connected to,then share the printer and then install the printer on
the remote computer as a network printer, inserting the driver CD if requested.

Hi Tony,
Installed software on both computers, then shared the printer. This
seems like I've done it the wrong way round and that I should now
uninstall from both and start again.

I've tried uninstalling a HP printer before and it refused access, is
there a foolproof way to do it?

The prefered way to uninstall printers is as follows (assumes Windows XP but
Win98 is very similar).
1. Open All Programs look for the printer in the program list and select
uninstall if the option is there.
2. If that is not available, go to Control Panel, Add or remove programs and
once more look for the Printer software and uninstall it.
3. If that is not available, go to Control Panel, open printers, right click
the printer and select Delete. This is the least preferred way to do it because
it can leave registry entries that will cause problems in some cases.
