Dead Acer Ferarri Fixed
My 3200 died a while ago I just fixed it cost about $5 and 2 or 3
hours work. On the underside of the mother board near the DVD socket there is a 0ohm link and a decoupling capacitor PL21 PC108. PL21 was burnt out PC108 was short circuit because it was cracked, its a multilayer ceramic capacitor so when they crack they short out. As its sitting between supply and ground it takes out the weakest link PL21 in this case I replaced PL21 with a zero ohm resistor 805 footprint and PC 108 with a 10uF ceramic capacitor 1210 footprint although I think it should be 4.7uF after thinking about it. It switches on and runs perfectly its been in use alday today no problems. All the links are marked PL something and all the capacitors are marked PC something so look for a burnt link then look for the cracked cap attached to it |
