305X video display by
Frank Dennis
I am considering buying a 305X notebook. I didn't get a response to my
previous query, so I did a Google search.
On thing I found was a complaint that the 852 GM chipset would not
support graphics beyond 800 X 600 @ 16 bit.
Just wondering if this is true, and if so, has it been corrected.
I will...

Adding a 2nd CPU to GW 6400 by
Jim Ford
The system board recognizes the 2nd processor but I have not been able to
get XP to recognize. I have been wanting to get this working for a long
time but no luck so far. I would be extremely grateful if anyone can point
me to a solution.
I also cannot get a PCI video card to work with this...

I currently own a Destination DL2 (STB Video/TV Tuner), I have put together
a Destination XTV (with ATI AIW Video card) and have it completed with 1
exception- I need to find a source
for the Destivu software that is specific to the XTV. It would be on any of

Gateway Modem Not found by
M.D.A
Hello all,
I have a modem that came out of a gateway P4-1400 system and I have tried to
install it in two other sytems unsuccessfully. Neither system recognizes
the modem at all; it is not recognized by the bios during bootup and device
manager shows no record of it. I have tried installing the...

Gateway 305X Notebook by
Frank Dennis
I'm seriously considering a 305X, but know nothing about notebooks.
My decision is based on price, and what the Gateway site says the unit has.
I have been dealing strictly with desktops since 1986.
Remember DOS, 128K RAM, and the 5 1/4 floppies?
I would appreciate any comments about the...

USB 2.0 on WS440BX board by
Patrick E. King
Would I be correct in thinking that my best option of achieving USB 2.0 on
above Mobo is to purchase a PCI card such as the Belkin that provides USB
ports via the card? The mobo has had the BIOS upgraded to
4W4SB0X0.15A.0019.P14 and the m/c is of late 1999 vintage originally had
PIII 500Mhz but...

Surge protectors by
Frank Logullo
Had a bad experience I thought I'd pass on. Prior to power going off in
wind storm there was tremendous bang and half the stuff in the house went
off. Turned out surge burned out 8 surge protectors. No damage to
computers but we lost small TV. Looking over protector warranties, Belkin
warrants...

Gateway network DVD player (wireless) by

Can anyone here verify that this device works with a Linksys wireless G

Gateway ver. because the software is more developed but I can't use it if...

305X Notebook by
Frank Dennis
I'm looking for a notebook that won't put me over the edge. I don't need
all the fancy bells, and whistles.
I plan on using it on a lengthy trip to load map data, store photos, and
do the email net thing.
I took a look at the 305X at a local Gateway store, and it seemed to
meet my needs.
Of...

Tech support? by
Frank Logullo
Wondered if GW is going the way of Dell and using foreign support?
Candidly, I do not like this. I bought a camera from Best Buy before
Christmas and when they did not have one in the store and on-line ordering
failed, I went to their 800 ordering number and order took nearly a half
hour with some...

Grey streaks on monitor by

I've developed grey streaks on my monitor which run across text and any
other dark coloring. Any thing I could find on the web indicates a card
failure. I have a Gateway P800 with TNT2 card, running win98SE. Can anyone
confirm it *is* the card? Any recommendations on a replacement?
Thanks for any...

Wasp P10 Bios Update by

Since flashing my Wasp MOBO BIOS with the P10 update from the Gateway site I
noticed that only one of two SATA drives now appear in the BIOS.
Windows XP Pro still recognizes two drive but Explorer takes about ten
seconds to open since the flash.
Other than that everything runs very well.
Any ideas...

What is the liklelihood? by
Fox
I have heard twice now that Gateway will be ending their home PC sales
and concentrating only, or at least more so on commercial PC sales
instead. I have also heard that somewhere in the fine print it is
likely said that even if one has paid for a 3 year extended warranty,
that there is no...
