Upgrading my current computer system parts: AMD or Intel? by
Ant[_3_]
Hello.
I am planning to upgrade my computers again since I need to replace my
very old single core Athlon 64 3200 Debian/Linux system (too slow to do
much!) with my current Intel quad-core Q8200 system.
I am trying to figure out if I should get Intel or AMD for my next
upgrade for my old...

Clean your PC with top 5 tools by
anyue[_3_]
No matter how meticulous you are in limiting the number of free
downloads you install on your PC or laptop, your computer will still
get jam-packed with junk that restricts performance, clogs up your hard
disk, and makes system crashes more likely.
Some of the useless programs came with your PC,...

PIII 866 to 1.8 Celeron upgrade? by
Aquacat - Road Runner
I have a PIII 866 system that works fine, but have a spare 1.8G Celeron 478
pin chip that I could use to upgrade. Having just built myself a new P4
12.6G system, funding is at a premium. My question is:
Is it worth upgrading my PIII to a 1.8G celeron if I can only afford to use
a motherboard...

What world does Intel live in? by
Archen
Intel's stock price takes a dive as it says sales of its chips,
especially in the cellular sector are below expectation.
Meanwhile everyone else reports cellular chip and phone sales are up 50%.

It seems that the on-board graphics does not support any physical
resolution higher than 1280x1024. My monitor is capable of 1600x1200, I

Help with overheating laptop by
Arklier
I recently got a P3 700MHz used laptop running Win98SE. It's used, and
badged as a Systemax, but I have my doubts as to whether it really is
or not. What I think is the serial number on it doesn't seem to check
out at their site. It does have a fan on it, but the fan only comes on
when it's smoking...

Large hard drive support on D865PERL by
Arsene Lupin
Should an Intel D865PERL motherboard running Win2K+SP4 be capable of
controlling 160 GB hard drives natively (without using an add-on
controller card)?. Mine only sees first first 128 GBs.
Any help would be appreciated.
