Default cd-rw is recognized but will not burn

ok for some reason it burns now.....but, how do I make it burn at my max
burn speed? My cd-rw is 40xsomethingx40. It only goes up to 24x though. The
cd i'm using to burn goes 1x-48x compatible..........so whats wrong with
this?

I've done many things trying to fix my damn cd-rw. I checked the registry,
everything is the way its supposed to be. I enabled the imapi device COM
whatever, updated/installed adaptec drivers and roxio updates for easy cd
creator.....and other i can't think of.......i am getting frustrated. very
frustrated. oh yeah and i also tried deleting the drive and restarting so

xp
recognizes it but it still won't burn. This is the error message I am
getting (picture).
