Default BOOT DISK FAILURE - ENTER SYSTEM DISK

I have a Pentium II 350 MHz w/4 mb harddrive I received from my
employer but had to be completely reformatted due to licensing.

I purchased a full version of Window Home Version XP only to find out
when I put the CD into the drive to load on the computerI got the
same error BOOT DISK FAILURE ENTER SYSTEM DISK

I do not have an emergency boot disk for this computer -- is there any
help you can give me.

Trying to get a workable system together so young grandson (3) can
learn how to use the computer and access learning software.

Your assistance is greatly apprecated!

That said from the previous poster about changing boot order is true. I have
found that sometimes earlier machines' bios cannot be configured to boot
with the CD-ROM drive, or even if they say they will they don't. MS makes a
set of 6 boot disks that can be run from the floppy drive and can be
downloaded.
This link is for the ones for XP Pro

I don't know if there is a set for the XP Home edition, but I bet there
would. You can do a search through the Knowledge Base to find out if needed.
Hopefully you won't.
Good luck,

You need to change the first boot device in the BIOS, to boot from the CD
ROM
Otherwise, the PC just tries to boot from the blank HDD regardless of the

XP
CD in the drive.
