Default External Harddrive

I'm having a problem with an external USB2 harddrive, I can write to the
drive, and I am getting the USB 2 speeds, but when I try to read from the
drive, it just locks up, and gives me a write error, has anybody had this
problem?, is there a fix for it?

Thanks

Eddy

That should have been a read error not a write.
