Default USB Modem Bottlenecks

Hi,
recently built a new comp and ever since my USB BB modem wont
download above 167k /sec when I'm got a 512k service.

I'm using XP Professional and the motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X - E and
the modem is a Alcatel 333 Speed touch. I messed around abit with few
upgrades to do with USB v 2 in win XP and wondered if some how now my
USB port isnt working right.

The modem connects fine and report its connected at 2.2mbs which it
used to and is obviousley enough for my connection. I there something
I could be checking to see if the USB is the bottleneck ? ?

cheers in advance

most modems also have an ethernet port. If yours does, use that with an
ethernet card in your PC. USB sux ass.
