Exactly! Configure the OS the machine was designed to run on to her liking.
You may find 98/ME drivers that will "work" but you're turning down a dead end street. Much better to avoid that dead end now than to have to back out of it later. There's always a learning period for users when you put a new OS in front of them. Find out what she doesn't like and maybe we can help you with the issues. Usually it's just cosmetics. Ask her in a month or two if she still wants to go back to the old way and she'll probably smack you hehe.. "Tom Scales" wrote in message ... Glad you found them. I'd suggest, though, before you dismiss XP, you just choose the option to make it 'look' like ME, rather than the new snazzy interface. It is SO much more stable. Thanks to everyone who replied.
I'll install ME as she wishes and just see what happens. As she does not want to do any surfing I hope this will work out. HH a écrit dans le message : ... My experiences with WinMe have been just the opposite. Never had so many lockups and hard freezes in my life. The apps were pretty standard, Office apps, Photoshop, etc. on all types of hardware. It's primarily a resource issue with WinMe, which tries to load so much garbage at bootup that low resource issues are almost guaranteed. HH "Kevin Childers" wrote in message ... And yet I've been using it for years without any real problems. Seems as though it is just a matter of what hardware it's on and what apps your using. KC "HH" wrote in message ... Well, I agree that 98SE is the best of the 9X versions but no 9X version is even in the same league with XP. Me simply sucks! Very unstable and hopeless as far as resources are concerned. I hope she enjoys rebooting often. She'll have to with WinMe. HH "Bolooser11" wrote in message ... What I know is that she has a licence for ME that she likes and wants to install it on this machine. Might seem strange but I know a few people who like ME and have it on fairly recent machines...personally I have Win98SE and do not want anything else. This notebook came with XP but she does not like it at all (can't blame her for that) and wants to get rid of it. HH a écrit dans le message : ... Nevermind. Just checked.
