Default Format Patriot flash drive to NTFS

I have a 8G Flash drive. When I do the disk properties, it says
Fat32. When I try to change fat32 there is no other option.

Suggestions?

http://www.ntfs.com/quest22.htm Q: How do I format a USB Flash Drive to
NTFS file system?

Here's an article (also) explaining some reasons you shouldn't do that
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.c...id=1676&page=8 One
potential negative of using NTFS on your flash drive is the additional
data writes that are necessary. NTFS is a journaling file system, which
means that disk transactions are logged separately on the disk as they
occur. This adds up to a considerable amount of extra disk activity,
which could mean wearing out your USB drive faster in the long run.

If you're bored, and want to play around, there is always "EXFAT".
It supports files larger than 4GB each, if that is why you're
reformatting the drive. Otherwise, I'd just leave it FAT32, which
is going to be more compatible with all the computing products
you've got.

BACK UP the data, then format it into NTFS, then copy files back!
I see no reason to do a convert.

The reason I formatted it was that, for some reason, with no files on
it, it showed 4G being used. (It is an 8G)

Also I wanted NTFS so it would hold a double layer ISO file.

It is only used to swap back in forth to my sister. There is no
important data.

Maybe the stick is REALLY 4G with another 4G fake part?

It was this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-252-_-Product

Supposed to be a good one.
Not sure why I could only get 4G, but formatting it seems to have
worked.

Were you able to format it as NTFS?

My guess is that someone formatted it in Vista or Windows 7 to be used for
"Readyboost"
