Default Days of re-selling Over?

This year I sold my desktop system (I forgot what it was, the old case
-- 8100 ?) for $1,200

Recently I sold my 630m for $900 (but I included a lot more things I
was downsizing but he was interested in).

With price / performance now, it seems like the days of getting
significant money for a used system may be over.

What do you think?

Most of the time when I sell a system on E-Bay, I get more than I think
it's worth. In February (this year) I bought a Toshiba A105. When I
found out that system would not run Vista with Aero, I resold it on
E-Bay. I got MORE than I paid for it. My son bought an Asus
motherboard in 2003 and sold it on E-Bay this year to build a new Core 2
Duo (desktop) system. He got within $10 of what he had paid for it new.
I can't explain it, but there is a market out there if you take care
of stuff (keep the boxes and ALL accessories and can resell them in "as
new" condition), and write the auction correctly. E-Bay is wonderful;
without it, there would be no way for a private person to move stuff
like that. [And while they buyers did, I think, pay too much, they got
good stuff, accurately described with a half dozen or more photos. I
buy on E-Bay also. You have to know what you are buying and selling,
and what it's worth.

You can still get decent money for laptops in the p3 class or above.
Lots of people like p3s because they don't suffer as much from heat
death as many later models, and still perform adequately.

You won't ever recover your initial investment, unless you make a
business out of buying, fixing and reselling.

It is hard to get good money off of desktops, though. People will pay
good money for a G4 tower, though.

E-bay has been OK for me in the past. My recent sales were though
Craig's List.

Personally, I don't care. Why in the world would anyone on this group care?

I don't think I am the one who needs to get a life. If you don't like
my posts, ignore them, hit the delete key, or killfile me. I am not
going to lower myself to your level.
