Default Ummmm - Amazon.co.uk

I don't work for Amazon or anything, but I'd just like to say....

Check out their gear prices before you buy from anywhere else. Their
service is second to none in my experience.

For instance, I looked around for a new PC case - Antec P160 - and they
were the cheapest by far. AND - free postage (courier)! And it came
within 2 days (great considering their target was 3-5 working days!)

And when there was a minor fault, I rang them. No messing, they sent a
new one out same day (the thing costs just under £100!) and told me to
sent the old one back in my own time and they'd refund the postage.

Sorry to state the obvious for people here who already use them, but I
thought I'd share my good experiences.

Their prices are generally very competitive. Just got a digital
camera that Comet, DABS etc are selling for £150-£180 at £99.99 from
Amazon with free delivery.

Shame they don't do more of a range of computer stuff. If they
stocked more I'd probably use them a lot more often.

They were particularly good around Christmas; I had a couple of
reasons for using their customer service and both times they were
excellent.

The first was just before Christmas when Royal Mail lost a parcel.
Amazon shipped replacement items FOC within a couple of days.

The second was after Christmas. They extended the returns period in
the run-up to Christmas, much beyond their obligations under DSR. I
brought a wireless mouse as a present during November but later
changed my mind and brought a wireless desktop set (mouse AND
keyboard) instead. I didn't get around to sending the mouse back
until the last week in January, two months after I'd ordered it, but
got an e-mail within a few days saying they'd refunded my card.

Having just RMA'd a failed Rio Karma with them after it failed a month
after I got it and received a full refund (including all postage) I have
to say I'm also impressed with the customer service, all their emails
were from real people and I got some of the replies to my questions
within an hour, and certainly all within 24 hours. Very surprising from
an on-line retailer, sadly.

So, hats off to amazon.co.uk, flawless service so far. Now if only other
companies could do the same...

Likewise. Just bought some business software from them, and they were very
competitive with free delivery.

I rang them a few months ago about a damaged jewel case from a 2 disc cd
set. They were very apologetic and sent me out the set again and did not
want me to send the damaged one back either.

yeah I love Amazon. I buy and sell alot of stuff on the marketplace too. An
excellent place to get cheaper gear and flog off your old stuff too without
the hassle of auctions.

Canon A60, by any chance?

True, and they also tend to be pretty behind the times price-wise on
graphics cards in particular. Most retailers have hit the £155 mark with
Radeon 9800 Pros these days, Amazon still have them for twice that.

Have been shopping at Amazon UK for 5 years, never had a sour experience.
Must have spent thousands of pounds with them. First rate customer service.
Well done!

Nope, Minolta Dimage X20. Noticed the Canon at the same price (not as
heavily discounted though).

I went for the A60, after a heads-up from the bargains ng - but still
waiting for the free 128Mb CF card.
