Can Someone Help?
I have a nvidia Geforce 4 MX440 Video Card. I have windows 98. I don't have
the original setup CD rom that came with the video card. I have triple boot, with WIN 2000 Pro and XP. I went to the Nvidia website to download the most recent win98 drivers for the video card but the system locks up and screen goes blank. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. So, maybe some one has some suggestions. Thanks, Moscoe in Baltimore |

what card did you replace when you put the mx in? you may have left over
driver in the sys. try to get rid of all video drivers and use the default windows drivers get it booted up in all 3 os. then start out buy installing the driver in 98 then check it to see if it works then move on to xp save 2000 for last. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIGHT BACK AGAINST SPAM! To really get rid of leftover drivers first boot in safe mode
uninstall nvidia drivers for win98 , reboot and detect standard graphics adapter. after reboot make all files seen, search for nv*.* and delete those files found. go to registry and search for keyword nvidia, again delete those found. go to device manager\graphics adapter and install new drivers. the wizard will let you specify a location so point to the dir you got yer nvidia drivers. After reboot all should be well. Finally reinstall directx. You could check in registry if maybe 2 graphics devices are listed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\enum\pci it's the first entry, check if the second entry lists the ssame specs. You could delete the string , in doing so you delete your graphics adapter and after reboot the process of redetecting a new video card starts all over again. Also check in c:\windows\Inf\other for nvidia .inf file, delete it or the last driver you used is installed again after reboot. now in registry search for keyword nvidia "Mangyrat" schreef in bericht ... what card did you replace when you put the mx in? you may have left over driver in the sys. try to get rid of all video drivers and use the default windows drivers get it booted up in all 3 os. then start out buy installing the driver in 98 then check it to see if it works then move on to xp save 2000 for last. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIGHT BACK AGAINST SPAM!
