Default 5005sr sound problem

got this from the pawn shop.everything works fine but no sound. get error
message{no sound device } on it.

put in a "sound blaster" card but still nothing. heard i may need to disable
the on board audio in bios, but don't see anyway of doing it. all i see is
what it's sharing with.

tried to reinstall drivers but that didn't work. any help here i would love
guys. thanks kathy

Kathy,
Why not report your fix in case someone else encounters the problem.

ok well, somehow(and i,m not sure what)was missing or deleted. in the
sound/multimedia said drivers were enabled but inactive for an unknown
reason.

was reading in "annoyances.org" that i may need to reinstall ME over ME.
well that worked and it popped on. how & what it did? i have no idea.
sorry if that doesn't explain too much, but thats what happened.
