Two OS on boot-up
Hello,
Recently I installed XP Pro after having reformatted the HD (which before carried XP Home Edition). Now I get on boot-up both OS announced, XP Pro in the first line, XP Home Edition in the second. If I wait 25 or so seconds, XP Pro loads, but if I push Enter, it loads immediately. If I go down to the XP Home Edition line, nothing happens (of course). There probably is an easy way to fix this (and I remember that in previous versions of Windows I managed somehow via Control Panel). But XP beats me. Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions. Don't know why they'd both be in the list if you formatted the drive before the install, but ... Right-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, and select "Properties." Click the "Advanced" tab and press the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" section. Make sure XP Pro is the "Default operating system." You can -probably get rid of the menu at boot by un-clicking the "Time to display list of operating systems" check box, but you can be sure by manually editing the startup options file by pressing the "Edit" button if you know what you're doing. -- Bert Hyman St. Paul, MN |

Two OS on boot-up
Good morning,
many thanks for the suggestions from you, Bert Hyman and "Nachtwacht"! Bert's solution was right on, but I made a note also of "Nachtwacht"'s information. My machine now boots normally and without delay. Thank you again, hartelijke dank! Petrus ""NachtWacht"" wrote in message ... Bert Hyman schreef in bericht . ..
