Default Help with Navisphere on Clariion FC4700 and Windows 2003 Server

My small company has inherited a brand new Clariion FC4700. I know
this unit is several years old but will serve our needs well. I have
everything to use this unit in a new Windows 2003 Server SAN including
Dell 56F switches, GBICs, QLogic Fiber controllers, fiber cabls, etc.
What I am trying to determine is exactly what software and version I
need. I believe I require Navisphere but I don't know which version.
Perhaps I need something else or in addition to Navisphere. I
attempted to contact EMC but can't get any help without a maintenance
contract that (no kidding) cost almost $70k a year for hardware and
software support. Can anyone help me please. Thanks!

This is kinda tricky siince i dont know what your using your CLARRiiON
for. Or what level(s) of RAID require.

You have a few options:
If you can see devices on your FC4700 just use it up.

You cannot monitor or administrate your FC4700 with out the correct
software so if this is performance related or you need future
expandability go with a new box.
i know a few storage arrays from different venders if you want to email me off this usenet.

Respectfully,
Guy

If you are using 2 HBAs from your W2k3 to the Clariion you need a dual
Pathing Software.

Try to get an account at: powerlink.emc.com
you can download Documentation about your FC4700 for free.

if your 4700 is up-to-date on firmware, you should be able to connect
to it via a web browser to configure it. i forget if the management is
on a different port than port 80 - run nmap against it to see what
ports are open and try them. you'll need java plug-in with your
browser for it to work.

if it's not up to date, you'll need a copy of navisphere manager, which
runs on windows, to manage it. 5.3 i believe was the final version of
navisphere that ran as a standalone app.
