RAM suggestions for K8V

Hey all, hope someone can give me some good advice on this. I built a K8V up
and unfortnuatly need to return the orginal RAM due to the fact that the things
wont run any faster than 333mhz (stuff is rated, 433mhz, go figure).

Anyway can anyone give me some advice for some fast (2-2-2 if possible) and
stable 400mhz (PC3200 or PC3500) suggestions?

Was it double or single sided? What sockets did you have it in? If you
look at pages 2-12 and 2-13 of the manual you will see that some
arrangements of RAM will limit the maximum speed you can run it at.

I'm running 1 Gb on a K8V board.
I bought a Corsair matched pair memory (2 x 512 Mb). These modules are
synched, so they perform better (especially for games).
Got one in the blue bank (bank 1, channel 1) and one in the yellow bank
closest to the blue (bank 2, channel 2). The third bank (also channel 2) is
empty.

Yep, Corsair (Pro - funky lights...:-) 2x 512 meg sticks, go to corsairs
website (the ramguy) and also check out mushkins website for details of the
oddities of the Athlon 64 and memory timings.

You'll have to set up the timings manually for the best results, auto seems
to keep things both tame and potentially odd at the same time.

BTW Sprite, you mentioned earlier you've got a Hitachi/IBM sata drive, are
they ok? quiet? cos they're pretty cheap at the moment.

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Looks like Corsair is going to be where I"m
going.

And now a few replies to those kind enough to help me out.

Ian, the ram I was using was Mushkin PC3500 (2x512) lvl II. I tired it with one
or both sticks and in different slots (checking out the manual). No change,
keep crashing in windows and giving errors in memtest86+ when run in 400mhz. I
tried messing with the settings, no good.

Andy, the drive runs pretty quite, and its speedy as all hell. After using it I
can see a noticable differnce when I used my ata100 drive for testing an OS
install. WIndows loaded WAY faster, as in 15 min from format to completed
install, utilities like win doctor and defrag run like the wind. I'm seriously
thinking about ditching the 120gig ata 100 and picking up a similar SATA. From
the benchmarks I saw on.. I belive it was Tom's it beat out the 36gig Raptor in
everything but seek time which is when the Raptors 10k rpm showed some use. But
considering the cost and the added noise I'd say the Hitachi is the best bet.
