Default ASUS A7V266 + AMD 2500

I have an ASUS A7V266-E motherboard which I just flashed to the latest 1011
Bios so it
would support a new AMD 2500 I just purchased. The BIOS flash went well, and
my current AMD 1900
runs just fine with it. But when I install the new 2500, the BIOS does not
recognize the CPU speed correctly.

It with either give me an option for an 1100 at 100 fsb, or 1463 at 133. No
option for the
default 1.83 gig which it should run at. Even trying to run it at 1100 or
1463, the system is very unstable.

The 1900 shows up with two options, one at 1200 & the other at 1600 which is
correct.

Anyone successfully run and AMD 2500 on an A7V266-E?

Thank you
Rick Sweeney

The XP2500+ uses a 166MHz FSB (333DDR)...as you have discovered the A7V266
does not support a 166FSB. You may be able to run it at 133 FSB and increase
the multiplier (the XP2500 is unlocked) to regain some clock speed.
As for the general instability..is your cooling up to the job?
