AI7 (uGuru) - Can you connect a TORNADO fan to the motherboard?
Hello,
Just a quick question. Can you connect a powerful Vantec Tornado fan (80mm, 92mm) to the AI7's motherboard CPU-Fan pin? I am aware that some fans draw to much current and can damage the pin-headers. Also I am wondering is the FAN-EQ function of the AI7 could be used with a Tornado. Many thanks -- Wayne ][ Sign on door reads: Please Do No Disturb! Pentium 4 assembly in progress! |

go with the Zalman and the 92 MM fan it has. I know it won't fry the header
but just not sure if the AI7 is any different enough to have issues with the size of the cooler itself! -- Thomas Geery Network+ certified ftp://geerynet.d2g.com ftp://68.98.180.8 Abit Mirror ----- Cable modem IP This IP is dynamic so it *could* change!... over 130,000 FTP users served! ^^^^^^^ "Wayne Youngman" wrote in message ... Hi Tom, I found out in another newsgroup that the *Tornado* is powered from a 4-Pin Molex pass-through cable, and also has a small cable to attach to motherboard for fan speed sensing. The Zalman is on my list (Copper version right?). Tell me about how it fits. Does it just attach to the standard INTEL retention cage?. -- Wayne ][ Sign on door reads: Please Do No Disturb! the copper is what I am running but the weight is high on that unit... if
the system is not going to be moved around, that is not really an issue. it fits to the stock Intel frame using a couple of cross bars. -- Thomas Geery Network+ certified ftp://geerynet.d2g.com ftp://68.98.180.8 Abit Mirror ----- Cable modem IP This IP is dynamic so it *could* change!... over 130,000 FTP users served! ^^^^^^^ "Wayne Youngman" wrote in message ... have zalman7000cu on my ai7, no prob at all fitting it, temps 10C lower than
with stock intel cooler (pIV 2.8c) -thing to watch for: distance of psu and top side of mbo! LRB "Wayne Youngman" wrote in message ... "TomG" wrote go with the Zalman and the 92 MM fan it has.
