Maxtor RMA
Has anyone had any experience with returning drives to Maxtor? I posted my
defunct hard drive to them on Friday 27th June with all the neccesary info (RMA etc). When i check the RMA Status on their web page it states 'Awaiting Receipt of returned drive'. I have mailed them to check to see if they are in fact still waiting for my knackered drive, I thought there may be some delay in actually updating the status, but they haven't replied. How long do these things take? Jez |

As you only returned it 6 days ago including a weekend it isn't surprising. Most RMA's are returned in about 2 weeks so I'd give them a bit longer before worrying. You did of course send it by some form of recorded delivery and have proof of postage/insurance I assume? Kind Regards, Jeff Davison Display Systems Consultants UK |

How long do these things take? Standard return can take a while; generally a couple of weeks. I've never bothered to check the status so I don't know how up to date they keep it. I tend to use their advanced replacement service; the new drive often arrives within a few days. -- iv Paul iv [ Mail: ] [ WWW: http://www.hopwood.org.uk/ ] |

I used their advanced service with no problems at all. Drive took 3 days to arrive, sent my old drive off in the packaging of the replacement drive. No probs. Chris -- Regards Chris Nowak Just to let everybody know, I received my replacement drive yesterday (the 8th July) so i'm pleased with that, what made me even more happy is the fact they upgraded my drive to the 200Gig version :-) All in all then 7 working days - brilliant. IBM are even better - they keep the drive for 5 weeks - so must give it more TLC - then when they return it you get no nasty surprises! send them a 15gb and you get a 15gb back - that's real service!!! -- njc AKA (Paypal & nochex e-mail) |
