Compaq Presario 5000
Hi
My friend has a compaq presario 5000. Don't have complete model number but has 80GB hard drive and a 1.3 athlon processor. Hard drive died and I replaced for him. He then had to order quickrestore disk. He got computer up and running. Set up his dial up account and now when he connects it is extremely slow compared to previously. He has contacted his ISP and they have tried several fixes to no avail. Computer will work well for a short time and then slow down again. He is running windows XP I think home edition on the machine. I attempted to disable client for MS networks and his ethernet card which again speeded things up for a short time. Is there a special tcp/ip protocol for this that he now does not have? Is there a buffering issue that slows things down? Any help would be appreciated. thanks |
