Xeon Gaming Machine?
Would it be better for me to build a dual 2.8Ghz 800fsb Xeon gaming machine
or a high end P4 3.2Ghz machine? I've heard that the dual CPU may not make a difference if the game doesn't support dual CPU's. Troy |

" Very few games natively support SMP for the end-user, with only the server consoles likely to take advantage of the technology. An SMP-aware OS like Windows XP Pro can assign the game to one CPU, with all other background tasks running on the second CPU. You're not going to get any massive performance advantage from this, unless you always have CPU-intensive programs running in the background while you play. For the same money as a dual-Xeon system, you can get a socket 939 Athlon64, an SLI motherboard and two GeForce 6800 series cards. This will give better performance than the Xeons, as more games will take advantage of SLI than SMP. |

Much appreciated! I'll stick to the single CPU system.
