Default Problems with Gforce 4

When I type a letter in ms word or any application such as notepad or yahoo
messenger etc. or when i close a program windows seems to pause. If I type
to fast also it freezes up & then catches up. Also when I open a program
when I first boot up I see it opening but a
outlined box then the rest caches up also & don't know what causes this?.
Have 1 gig of ram & 160 gig hd & Also I tried this on a 60 gig HD same
results & all have plenty of space & also scanned for viruses & spyware
using SpySweeper & PestPatrol & nothing. I don't see any errors in Event
Viewer in Admin tools. I using VIA 333 chipset & using via 4 in one 449v &
also tried the 451off www.viaarena.com same thing. Other
hardware is Gforce 4 MX 440 Video Card with drivers 5303 latest & also had
5216. Anything else that could cause this though I seen other have similar
problems? I disabled the indexing service & no difference. I do have all
patches on using XP Pro with sp1 & all new patches. I was told its a video
problem

Please Help!

Check the processes tab in Task Manager and have it sort processes by the
one using the most processing time. If "System Idle Process" is not on top
when you are doing nothing (no processor intensive tasks) then there is
something wrong. Find out what it is and kill it. If the process is listed
for User Name SYSTEM then don't attempt to kill it. If that is the case,
try running MSConfig and see if it gets killed right away. Please post your
findings here. If MSConfig gets killed right away, then put a listing of
all processes that are running here. I will see if a particular process
shows up on the list. I do strongly suspect that a runaway process is
taking up your process time.

P.S. - There is a program that for some reason cannot be killed properly (it
will restart automatically), cannot be deleted (because it is running) and
cannot be taken off the startup list (readds itself to startup). It also
kills MSConfig and Regedit when those programs are run. The process causes
random process entries to show 90-99% CPU usage. A friend got that file and
it took me a while to figure out that process was it. I was able to get rid
of it eventually but I will only know which file when I see the process
list.

down grade your gf4 driver to ver. 45.23 (the last official driver, i think
this is the best for gf4 so far).

i've tried the latest driver ver. 53.03 and some games can't run, might be
the cause of yr problem.

Ok. That is the way it should be. Just wanted to be sure about it. There
is a patch out there that microsoft released for if you are getting major
slowdowns in applications. I forget which one though but I applied it on my
computer thinking it might fix a problem I had. Search the microsoft
support site for the patch. No, you would not get this patch by going
through windows update because only those experiencing the problem would
apply it.

What are you 6? Would you like me to hold your hand as you wade though Microsoft's site?
Not trying to be mean but this response is just plain lazy and lame.
