Default Amd 2400 running 166 FSB in Asus A7N8X

Will a T'bred, 2400, 266 fsb, run at 166 fsb in an Asus A7N8X or an
'Nx8-Deluxe'? Anybody got one in any mobo running 166X15, its inherent
multiplier. (I am presuming that 2.0gig/133=15 for mult.)?
If not, what could one expect with one of those cpu/mobos using Kingston
HyperX 3500 DDR, 1 stick?
Thanks to all. sdlomi2

With a good PS and the right cpu, I'm sure 15x166MHz could be achieved
with a a number of 2400+'s. I wouldn't expect all of them to go that high
and you'd probably need at least 1.85v vcore and a very good cpu cooler.

Thx, Wes. Was hoping you'd reply. If the 2400 I get is unlocked, you
agree there's a chance that it might do 15X166 by just varying fsb &
cpu-volts? Would it take a better cooler than a Vantec, Aeroflow,
VA4-C7040? If so, what'd you recommend? Got a couple of T'takes, a 6, 7,
and 9 I believe. Freight trains for sure!
BTW: I ordered twice from Compuplus and bought the Vantecs for the $5.95
each or so. Last I looked, they still had the same advert'd price. And
shipping was fast, like Newegg. Still don't understand their pricing??? s

The default speed of the xp2400+ is 2.0ghz
You have PC3500 ram.
Your mainboard will probably run it at 200x10.
Thats what I ran my (unlocked) xp2400 on a nf7-s (nforce2)
ended up at a stable 200x 11, just before I replaced it with a barton 2600.

Check to see if your 2400 is pre week 39/40 (multiplier locked after that i
think)

There's a possibilty, but it's no sure thing. But with a locked pci/agp,
you can use any FSB speed. So if 166 doesn't work, just lower it. I think
15*150 (2250Mhz) would be a good speed for it. Why push the limit.

The Aeroflow should be ok, but I'd run vcool or some similar software
cooling. AT 2500MHz, you'll need it as cool as possible. I run my 2100+ at
13x166 (2166MHz) 24/7 with Athcool running. Idles about 32C. Full load
will slowly take it to about 50C after some time. Vcore at 1.68v. I think
the Aeroflow will do as good a job, if not better, than the TT's you have.

Even if it's unlocked, he won't be able to lower the miltiplier below 13
with that board without another mod, either to cpu or pinmod.

Running at 202x11 here, with a Tbred 2400. At 1.75 Volts, with PC3200
Corsair memory. Air cooling.

That is not correct. I have an unlocked 2400+ running on my asus A7N8X and
can use all multipliers.

So when did they fix this? Others complained about only being able to use
upper or lower multipliers, but not both with same cpu.

I'm not sure when, but I have been able to use the different multipliers
since I got the board. It is a ASUS A7N8X-Dx, ver. 2.0 with bios 1006. I
can not choose any multipliers lower than 9.5, they are split with the
higher multipliers and controlled by the x8 bit IIRC.
