Agent (the Forté news reader) and .mp3 File Association
I sent the query below to Creative technical support. But I am so
disappointed with their response that I am seeking help here. Thanks for any help or pointers you can provide. Bob --------------------------------------------------------------- Product Purchased: Product: Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 ------------------ Operating System: Windows XP Creative Model Number: SB0100 Computer Brand/Model: vpr (BestBuy house brand) Processor/CPU: Memory: BIOS Type/Revision: System Board/Chipset: ------------------ Detailed Problem Description: During the install process I gave my permission for your software to handle .mp3 files. And if I now double click a .mp3 file in Explorer it launches fine. However, in Agent (the Forté news reader) when I try to launch a .mp3 file attachment Agent does not know which program to use. Before you say that this is not your problem please note that Agent uses Windows file association to correctly launch programs for many, many file types. So, I hope you can solve this problem. But if not, can you at least tell me if there is something different about the way in which your software associates itself with .mp3 files? Maybe Agent knows how to figure out some simple file associations but not a more sophisticated way used by your software. Thanks, Bob |
