Unable to access CD-ROM
No matter what CD-ROM I put in the drive (Samsung 52X), it is not
recognized by Windows XP. When I go to My Computer, it shows the name of the CD but when I double-click it, right-click Open or right-click Auto-play it, it doesn't respond. I have three partitions, C: (NTFS) D: (FAT32) and E: (FAT32). When I boot the PC with Win98 startup disk and then try to access the CD it shows the folder structure but when I try to copy files, it gives CDR101 Error message. Then I tried to install Win98 (Dual boot) but it gives an erro SUWIN and the installation fails. Then I went into WinXP recovery console and SURPRISE, I can access the CD, I tried to copy files to my hard drive and it copied. The CD is accessed properly in WinXP recovery console but not in WinXP, DOS or with Win98 startup disk. Another strange thing. I have a Logitech Mouse driver CD which is accessed properly everywhere. Any ideas??? -M@XI |
