Default A8V Config Without RAID: Possible???

Hi All,

I'm almost ready to build my A8V/3500+ system. I'm still waiting for
my SATA drives. I hope this isn't too dumb a question. But, is it
possible to use the two drives without RAID? I'd like to put the OS
and system apps on one drive and apps/data on the other. Looking
through the manual there doesn't seem to be anything on this config.
The closest thing I see to what I want is JBOD. But even there, JBOD
will see both drives as just one big one.

Thanks.

Hi, that's how I'm running it. I have a 80g Maxtor on one channel and a 20g
Maxtor on the other. it is better to use the Via Sata as it enables you to
disable the promise controller in the bios, thus making bootup times
quicker.
