Default DMA types

Can some expert list the differnet DMA ratings and what you would expect ?

e.g. Hard Drive DMA 5
CD-RW DMA 1 (made up examples)

thanks

Not at all clear what you are asking.

I think he is asking for ATA equivilants

UDMA 6 = ATA 133

UDMA 5 = ATA 100
(usually occurs in modern hard drives)

UDMA 4 = ATA 66
(older hard drives, some new CDRW burners)

UDMA 2 = ATA 33
(most CD-ROMS, and older burners)

Can someone verify this, I'm just taking this off what I see on the
computer when it boots.

I think DMA really refers to "Direct memory access"

DMA = Direct Memory Access
The numbers generally mean which channel you are using (I don't think you
can share)
Certain ones (I can't remember) are 8 bit, while others are 16bit, IIRC.
You do want it enabled for performance. Look for conflicts with sound cards
if there are problems, IIRC.

Absolutely clueless. We are talking about PCI IDE.
