Reset BIOS password on Optiplex GX250
Hi all,
We had an Associate leave not long ago, and when trying to log into his workstation - a Dell Optiplex GX250, Minitower case - we found he had a BIOS password enabled. He can't be reached, so I need to find a way to reset the BIOS password. After checking the motherboard, I didn't see any jumpers like with other systems, plus I didn't see a battery to remove. Where would this jumper be (if there is one) or where's the battery? Or is there another way to reset this password? Thanks for any suggestions or ideas, Alex. |

Dell doesn't list a 250.
A 240 or a 260 both use a flat "watch" type battery. http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems...ry.htm#1103705 "WSZsr" wrote in message om... Call Dell tech support. "Alex" wrote in message om... There is a bios password jumper on that board. It's near where the power
supply plugs into the board, should have a green jumper on it and the pins are labled PSWD on the board. Look in there and you'll see it. Just take it off, boot the system, you'll see a message indicating password disabled, power down and put the the jumper back. Your good to go. "Alex" wrote in message om...
