wroth: "David G Misner" wrote in message .. . I could not find a FireGL X1 256M But I found a ATI FIRE GL4 128MB DDR. I assume they are different Yes, they are different. The FireGL4 is based on the old ATI chipsets, while the X1 is based on the same GPU as in the Radeon 9700pro. The X1 should be available around now in at least three different configurations -- a 128MB AGP4x/8x, which is pretty similar to the 9700pro with workstation software and higher quality components; a 256MB AGP4x/8x with twice the memory; and a 256MB AGP PRO version, which can draw additional power and thus potentially it can be cranked up much further. Expect to pay quite a bit more for the 128MB X1 than the 9700pro, as you get workstation drivers, higher end components, and a different level of support than for consumer cards. I found a ATI FireGL X1 256p on eBay for only $250. Is that a good deal?? Is in different than the 256M??? |

What are you running (Software?)
If you run any OpenGL professional application (Solid-Edge/Work, ProE, Autodesk products) KEEP AWAY from ATI, I've always had problems w/ them (presently have a FireGL V3100 and hate it), stick to 3DLabs or Nvidia. If you want to run prof app + gaming = Nvidia If you want just prof app = 3DLabs or Nvidia If you just run games = Nvidia or ATI (3DLabs has had some probs w/game support) Is there a newsgroup for 3Dlabs Wildcat owners??? go to 3DLabs website \ Support \ Forum "David Glenn Misner" wrote in message ...
