Pentium 4 3ghz overclocking
Hi all i got myself a Dfi lanparty mobo (canterwood) and a 3ghz 512 p4 also
512 kinston hyper x ddr 400 i have put up the fsb speed to 214 and im now running at 3.22 ghz i am on the stock intel heatsink and fan. What heatsink fan combo would you suggest for more overclocking and how high could i take this chip the case i have it in has 4 fans 2 behind the processor an 2 at the side of the case cheers for your help |

Why not Kingston? I have some PC3200 400 MHz ram, and I cant overclock the stuff by far @ all, or can I underclock it too far to run with slower ram either. PC3200 400 MHz ram running with Overclocked PC2100 266 MHz Ram, heh? PC Wizard 2004 brings it up as DDR PC2600 Marks? Sisoftware Sandra gives me 4.5 / 4.4 or so... Default 33 Fps Raster 32Fps 2d 16Fps Even the Intel video on-board is better, but for true fast speed, anything above the Radeon 9000 or the 9000.. I'd like a All In Wonder 9800 Pro I think there's a pro to this one. 2. P4C? If I'm running 2.6 @ 3.2 So I would try going up to 3.6 GHz See how it goes, I can get more out of this thing, with just a little boost in vcore, but only need a little.. |

Kingston makes very good ram at reasonable prices,it's what i use in all my customers systems. DOUG |

Even though it's not a Problem that an a+ cert should have to work with, I'm
not to far from.. Then it's got to do something with how this Gigabyte 8IG1000 Pro board works. I'm thinking the board can't take much more then PC3200 Memory, or maybe PC3200 ram is it's max. So a bios update might help me. If I do try to go over 415 by much, with just the PC3200 Memory in I will get a ram error from the bios, lots of beeps, nothing, then lots of beeps again. I'm thinking that's got to be ram error from the bios. I have Kingston HYPER X 3500 in mine, running at 2.0,3,3,7. running at 225 FSB. I tried 2.0,2,2,6 and it did not like it and rebooted while doing task's. I pretty sure 3700 or 4000 will work also. DOUG |

I'm thinking that's got to be ram error from the bios. I think I'm still happy getting this PC2100 ram running like it's PC2600 : I didn't even know you could even get DDR PC2600 Ram. & benchmarks over a true P4C 3.2 GHz Cpu. I posted some of my tests, so there's no point posting them again. This system runs good for what's in it, I'd like to see what I could do with a better Video card with this setup, but I don't feel like pulling the R9000 from my other system, @ least not without pulling the Audigy 2, and since that that's a part of my network, I won't pull that till I get a IEEE1394 (400) firewire, hmm? firewire, you know, I was looking @ something not so long ago about IEEE1394b running up to 3.2Gigs, did I miss read that, or is this true? I do Video Capture on my Firewire, why is this, I find using ethernet for the same job unpredictable @ times in terms of speed, and if I use the net @ the same time, I loose frames.. With firewire, I only miss frames when my P4 has to take a short break, (1,2) Frames. Sorry to run off like that, I went off in the wrong direct there for a little bit.... With good ram, and good cooling. I'm only using my P4 stock fan too. But with a P4 3.06C you should be able to get it up to 3.66 without much of a Problem. (600 MHz Over, right on the marker..) With a little extra cooling, and a vcore boost, you should be able to push that into 3.70 GHz or even a little higher. I would put all the better parts in this system, but for the time being, I'm happy with the Overclock where it is, and I got Rock Solid Stability, even while doing a Video Encode. Of which takes the most out of almost any system. 100% Load. I hope this helps.. :-) Dennis E Strausser Jr (Future computer repair worker.) |
