Abit IC7-Max3 vs Abit AA8XE Fatal1ty
Hi everyone,
Was just wondering if any of you out there had any experience or an oppinion on the motherboards in the subject? Would it be worth my while to upgrade from the IC7-Max3 to the Fatal1ty board? Apart from the obvious CPU difference, will the end result be a better system? Thanks for all help, SC |

Was just wondering if any of you out there had any experience or an oppinion on the motherboards in the subject? Yeah, got both an experience and an opinion, which one do you want? Would it be worth my while to upgrade from the IC7-Max3 to the Fatal1ty board? Without knowing what CPU, graphics card and memory you're running, it's impossible to give a 100% accurate answer, but on the face of it the answer is no. Apart from the obvious CPU difference, will the end result be a better system? That's a piece of string question. Going to the AA8XE locks you into a PCI Express graphics card and DDR2 memory, as well as a processor change, so whether or not you'd get a "better" system depends what processor, memory and graphics you've got now, and what you planned on upgrading to. As a general point though, going to this new board right now is probably not going to represent a fair return on investment. Right now, you can get better performance from your IC7 Max 3, coupled with the right components, than you could from the AA8. If you want to get a bit more specific about your component choice we could give you some more specific advice, but going on what you've already told us, the best advice is not to bother. -- Richard Hopkins Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom (replace .nospam with .com in reply address) The UK's leading technology reseller www.dabs.com Get the most out of your digital photos www.dabsxpose.com |
