Problem with Acer TFT monitor.
Hi,
I have just treated myself and splashed out on a 17" Acer AL1712m tft montior. There is some sort of problem with my system set up as there is an small (yet apparent) shadow just to the right of everything that appears on the screen. It is especially noticeable when using Word or writing emails when there is black text on a white background. I took the monitor back to the dealer and he tested it on his system AND THERE WERE NO FLIPPING SHADOWS!!! Typical! So, the problem lies with my system. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics card (which is an analogue nvidia gforce 2) and the latest version of directx (9b). My system is also set up to operate at the monitors recommended resolution. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed. I am contemplating purchasing a reasonably priced nvidia 5200fx dvi graphics card but I don't want to be left with a monitor that works fine (just not on my system with or without a new graphics card). Thanks in advance, Sonars UK. |

we have 2 identical compaqs at work w/quadro video cards, the viewsonic 17
lcd is prefectly clear, the 18 next to it at same res settings has the shadow you mention. It may be some lcds are better w/dvi connections, I remember in a review of a LCD they switched that and the monitor cleared up. I was in J+R last week, they had a 20"Sony with the same ghosting, I checked the back and they were using the analog input. How they expect to sell it looking like that, I'll never know. This inconsistency is what's preventing me from replacing my 2 g790's w/2 20" lcds (I dont have DVI outputs on my gf4-ti4200) "Sonars_UK" wrote in message ... Analog or DVI connection?
This isn't a driver problem, it's hardware. Bad cable, bad video card, maybe even poor ground in your electrical outlet. "Sonars_UK" wrote in message ...
