I did use Vundofix, Adaware Plus and Spybot. All three removed
various
bits and pieces of the bug and all the overt symptoms of it seemed
to have vanished. Each prog claimed success in ridding the virus.
I'll try the software you recommended, as well.

I'm not familiar with Vundofix, but I can assure you that Adaware and
Spybot are not up to this task. Let us know what you find...

Good news! Superantispyware did indeed find 7 more instances of
Vundo - two registry entries and 5 additional dlls in win32 missed by
Vundofix, Adaware Plus and Spybot. Odd that each of those three
programs found files the other two missed, all reported the
infestation clean, yet none completely cleaned Vundo out!

After completing a full systems scan in safe mode, I rebooted and
tested the screensavers. After an hour of continuous use, it appears
that the stutter has vanished.

Thanks for that recommendation, Augustus!

I may have spoke too soon. Apparently the last remnants of the virus are
gone, but I just noticed after about an hour my display was syrupy slow
once again and it's not just my screensavers, but also my MMO game, EVE
Online.

I'm not sure what else can be done to fix these display issues.

Not to rain on any parades, but SP3 has been causing various

It seems to work fine with Intel; causes problems with AMD.

It's been fine on my AMD system. The problem was with certain SP3 ISOs that
had Intel drivers rather than the AMD equivalents, with rather predictable
consequences. If you installed SP3 from the redistributable, as I did, that
problem never occured. Thus far the closest thing to a problem I've seen is
a minor conflict with my admittedly older defragmenter and the post-SP3 MMC,
but it still works and I've told MMC to ignore it.

You're giving me credit for things I didn't write. I don't know what
chipsets and drivers are having problem. I have Intel. SP3 screwed up all
of backup utilities, causing BSoDs.

I think you wanted to respond to Julie, not me.
