Default Asus A8V & Socket 939

Last week I almost went off to buy a Asus K8V Deluxe with AMD 64 3200+
processor, when I read the news about the new 939 socket based boards and
the A8V (for 939 socket) from ASUS.

The boards are $200, but the AMD 64 3800+ (for 939 socket) is ~$700.

Does anybody have historical data as to how long it took for the first AMD
64 bit chip to get below $250?

Any ideas if RH or SuSE partially or fully support for the new config
(board/chip)?

Mohan
