Does anyone know if the ONTAP license is transferrable to a buyer of
used NetApp filers?

TIA

It usually isn't, which makes Filers a bitch to sell second-hand and is a
factor to take into account when making a purchase decision. If you use a
lot of functionality/software on your filer, then the licenses are usually
the largest part of the investment. When it's time to move to something else
then that investment is usually down the toilet unless you make upfront
arrangements with NetApp.

Rob,

Many thanks. Do you know if the ONTAP licenses are priced as new if it
is used on a 'used' filer?

No, I don't. You'll have to check with NetApp or one of their resellers.

NetApp filers with transferable licenses are available from
www.zerowait.com or on their store. www.thezerowaitstore.com
