Default XP2200+ not at 1800MHz in A7A266 Motherboard

I originally posted this in alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus and received
some good feedback but still couldn't solve the problem. Any thoughts on
how to get this CPU working properly in my mobo?

Thanks for any input,
Frank

Gentlemen, I've tried a number of different combinations of DIP settings and
found that in the BIOS, it is now reading a multiplier of 13. No matter
what I changed, when the machine did start, WCPUID reported a multiplier of
20 and I am always reading between 2000 and 2020 MHz.

I'm running version 1012 of the BIOS in my revision 1.04 ASUS A7A266
motherboard. Perhaps I'll wait until the final version of the BIOS comes
along
and I will retry. For now it's stable at this speed, and the chip was only
$100 if
I blow it. For now I'll run my XP 2200+ at 2020MHz.

Hello:

I have an A7A266 updated with the latest BIOS of 1012. The motherboard
revision is 1.04, and the ASUS website says that the revision 1.10 mobo

will
support up to an Athlon XP 2600+ (Model 8). I have read a couple of
articles stating that the revision 1.04 mobo MAY support Athlon XPs, only
that they haven't been tested by ASUS.

Right now I'm using a Athlon 1.2GHz o/cd to 1.3GHz. Has anyone tried an
Athlon XP chip in this revision of motherboard?

Thanks for any help you may give.

So what do you want to do with it? You want the stock multiplier (13.5)?
If so, cut the L1 bridges.. It's that simple. Or you can follow
instructions for 133MHz FSB in Multiplier Cross Reference in link below.
It might work with your chipset.
