Compaq lte5000

Hi there,

Unfortunatly, I've formatted myHD on a LTE5000 and now I can't reach my
floppy drive any longer !

So what should I do to recover the functionality of the floppy drive ?

Any help would be appreciate

It's hard to imagine what formatting the HD could do to the
floppy; they are on different hardware channels. Can you get
into the BIOS setup routine? There is usually a message that
pops up briefly during the boot sequence, something like "Hit f4
for setup."

It's hard to imagine what formatting the HD could do to the
floppy; they are on different hardware channels. Can you get
into the BIOS setup routine? There is usually a message that
pops up briefly during the boot sequence, something like "Hit f
for setup."

The problem with those Compaq laptops is that the setup program is in a
hidden partition in the HD,
so if you partition (not only format) the HD the Setup program is
lost,you can no more setup the Bios.
If the setup partition exists, you will see briefly a white square flash
in top right corner of the screen after POST. If you hit F10 at this
time, you will enter Setup.
If not, you have to D/L a setup floppy image from HP/Compaq web site,
create the disk on another PC. Then press alt-control-F11 (or is it
alt-shift-F11?) at the power up of the LTE to restore standard Bios
settings to allow boot from floppy!
