+50°C too hot for AMD XP 1500?
Since I've replaced the cooler of my CPU with a quieter one (Artic Copper
Silent 2 instead of a jet-engine-noise Dragon Orb 3), I've started monitoring the temp of my cpu with a program that came with my MSI motherboard. I have no idea of what it used to be, but now it ranges from 37°C to over 50°C (it's mostly around 46°C). Is this too hot? Could this be a sign that I did not install the cooler properly (it's been on there for about 2 months now)? Could using Arctic Silver instead of the simple thermal compound that came with the cooler help? I haven't overclocked anything on my PC but I thought you guys would the experts in these matters. Thanks very much for your help already! SZ. |

Thanks very much for your help already! SZ. I recently bought an MSI board and the temp/monitoring utility that came on the CD with the board said the CPU temp was about 6C higher than the BIOS temp so I installed the temp/monitor program for another board and its readings are almost identical to BIOS readings. So, after the computer has been running for a while, reset and check BIOS temps and compare them to the monitors programs readings just before the reset. Dave |
