Default XPS Cpr

I need to reinstall Win 98 etc on a friend's machine.
My questions a
1. When installing drivers for the video & Sound, from the resource CD, are
the correct drivers automatically found on the Cd, or does one have to
select the relevant driver? If so, the only info I have on these from the
Device manager is:
Display Adapter: NVIDIA GEForce 256 AGP
and
TBS Montego II Sound Blaster Pro.
Are there any particular numbers/or Coding that refers to these two drivers?
2. Any other drivers that need to be installed?
(I have the modem driver on a separate CD).

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

the system was shipped with both a drivers cd and a cd for the operating
system that it was shipped with and a sticker with the serial number for
that operating system. after you install the operating system then you will
need to install all the necessary drivers. the driver cd makes it easy but
the drivers on that cd may be dated with newer ones available on
support.dell.com. ideally, if you locate the system tag number from the
bottom of the system and then go to support.dell.com you can look up the
original configuration of the system which will tell you the type of modem,
network card, sound card, etc that the machine was originally shipped with
so that you can then download the appropriate drivers. many systems were
sold with various modems (for example) and so knowing which you have makes
installing the drivers much simpler.
