Default CCL Computers taking money immediately, when goods not in stock

Very surprised by this. Ordered an item (a £200 Christmas Present + £25
of other items) not in stock at the point of ordering but expected to be
available today. I received an email today saying there are availability
problems and they can't say when the £200 item will be in stock.

I checked my Visa card statement online and find they've deducted the
full £225 UKP. This is the first e-tailer I've come across that doesn't
*reserve* the full chargeable amount at point of ordering, but actually
*takes* it. I could get this item elsewhere (Dabs have them in stock and
can deliver by Christmas), but I can't do that because CCL have reduced
my available spend limit to the point that it can't be quickly reversed
(approx 5 working days for a refund to show up on the card)...compared
to 24-48 hours in the case of cancelling an order for a _reserved_ amount.

I rang up, and not only did the Sales guy not understand, but proceeded
to explain that Amazon do this too, which is of course BS. I've ordered
several items from Amazon over the past week, and I've ordered tons of
stuff from them over the years. They _absolutely_ ensure the funds are
available at the time of ordering by _reserving_ it, but they _only_
take that money at the point of despatch.

The first time anything has ever gone wrong for me when ordering from
CCL, and the last time given the false information and lack of
understanding encountered when telephoning to deal with it. At the end
of the day, the guy answering their phone might as well have said
"tough", because that's what it boils down to.

Whenever possible I always order my parts from
http://www.rlsupplies.co.uk

They do not charge your card until the items are ready for despatch and
send a text message when the items sent.

They do not have a product range as big as some of the other online
companies, but I have always found their service to be excellent.
