Deskpro EN is the model. There was the EN and the EP and I think an EX.
Those came after the 2000/4000/6000 series

I'm almost dead certain that the model is a 6450 with an Intel 440BX chipset.
The transition to 810 and 815 chipsets did not happen for Compaq until Socket
370 Pentium III. Some of the slow Slot 1 Celerons such as the 6333c may have
used a variant of 440BX such as 440EX or 440ZX. Maybe even the older 440LX.
Haven't looked inside one for a while... Ben Myers

Default Here is the Bios Fix to Install Win-XP

I have a Compaq Deskpro with a Pentium II 400. The label says Series
PD1005. When trying to install WinXP-Pro it crashes with a blue
screen error. After much research I found the fix
below

I found a Bios File on Compaq web site that will allow you to install
XP-Pro. It is the System BIOS 686T3 version 99.08.22. It is in
SP15779.exe 458k file size. This will build a bootable Bios upgrad
diskette complete with System Bios version 99.08.22 which states that
works with Windows 2000 but out of desparation I tried and completely
loaded XP-Pro now without a blue screen error. This is the web site
where SP15779.exe lives.:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...load/9251.html

The system is working perfectly with XP-PRO now...
