help with presario 1925 laptop....

need some help... this laptop has a detachable "wedge" containing the
DVD/CD drive and the 3.5" floppy drive. Although it has no problem reading
cd's, it will only play a DVD for the first 10 minutes or so, then locks up
and won't even find the disk until the system has cooled off for an hour or
so. I could live with that (and have been!), but recently the floppy drive
quit too. My problem is that I don't know if it's the wedge (my best bet) or
the main laptop (seems unlikely), so if I can find someone in the Atlanta
area with the same system, I'd like to see if they can access the drives in
my wedge. If not, then I know I need to replace that part (or live with the
limitations....). If anyone has, or knows someone that has, a Compaq
Presario 1925 (or any of the 1900 series) and would like to help, please
