Default Hard Drive Failure

I have a WD 80 gig 7200 rpm hard drive that I am having problems with. My
computer crashes with a blue screen and the reboots and cannot find the
drive, but when i turn the power off of the computer, it semms to work for
about a day, I did a hard drive diagnostic and it turned up no errors.

Please help
Thanks,
Sam

check your ide cables or put in a new one entirely
before you condemn the drive

Please list the brand name and type of the rest of your hardware, especially
the power supply.

You might see if SMART feature is enabled in your bios.
I've had drives that were going bad and this was picked up by
motherboard SMART check but running manufacturer's diagnostic
showed nothing wrong.

I suggest making a backup of any important data on the drive
asap, as drive could continue to work or fail at any time
(depending on if it's the problem of course).

Okay. Ummm... how about replacing the hard drive! Here's an idea!
