Default quick question about mobo raid controller

If I'm just running my drives jbod would a see any decrease in performance
at all if I do not install the RAID drivers and just let the SATA ports
control them on my motherboard?

The mobo SATA ports without the RAID drivers usually just run as
standard SATA ports.

Assuming that your drives are not setup as a RAID array, plugging them
into the mobo should work fine.

All RAID flavors have some performance overhead, ranging from
a little (for 0 or 1) to quite a bit (for RAID5). So generally, you
should see better performance by not installing a RAID driver.

However, there's a wide variability in driver and controller firmware
quality, so only comparitive benchmarks on your system will tell you
for sure which mode is faster.
