quick question about mobo raid controller
If I'm just running my drives jbod would a see any decrease in performance
at all if I do not install the RAID drivers and just let the SATA ports control them on my motherboard? |

The mobo SATA ports without the RAID drivers usually just run as standard SATA ports. Assuming that your drives are not setup as a RAID array, plugging them into the mobo should work fine. Rarius |

All RAID flavors have some performance overhead, ranging from a little (for 0 or 1) to quite a bit (for RAID5). So generally, you should see better performance by not installing a RAID driver. However, there's a wide variability in driver and controller firmware quality, so only comparitive benchmarks on your system will tell you for sure which mode is faster. |
