Default Opinion on servicing an Epson 1650

Hi, I have an Epson Perfection 1650 scanner and it's been working fine
except for one problem. Ever since day one I noticed a very small
speck of plastic stuck underneath the glass surface. This is in
addition to specks of dust that also appear under the glass but on
another area.
I have an extended warranty on this unit and I'm thinking of sending
it in to a local Epson service center for cleaning.

Do you guys think they (service center) will be able to do a good job
of cleaning the glass or will I get the scanner back with even more
dirt and dust?

Any thoughts or experiences you folks could share?
thanks!
