Default Dead screen on laptop

If you have got a dead screen on a laptop and its out of warranty, on
average it will cost more than the laptop is worth to get a replacement.
If you can plug it into a computer monitor and get a picture, then just take
off the screen and use the laptop as a compact base unit.
I have done this a couple of times to aid customers, and they are very
happy. OK its not portable but it does extend the use of a potentially
scrap laptop for a student to use at college in thier accommodation, and
take home during the holidays. You can also remove it from a desktop an
secure it in a security cabinet.

I am sure people will "chip-in" with some positive and the other form of
response.

Thank you

Its usually the lid closed switch, the ribbon cable or the transformer.
Look on Ebay for spares.
