Question backup and storage
I'm looking for a backup solution for my desktop and notebook hard disks.
Can I clone both on one usb external hard drive? Is this the most convenient/cheapest solution? Thanks all. -- ************ All email scanned by Norton AntiVirus 2002 |

A good idea might be to install the external drive and run ghost to create
an image file of each system. |

As long as the drive is big enough to receive image files from both systems, where's the problem (aside from the data transfer time over USB)? -- spammage trappage: replace fishies_ with yahoo |

That's the plan...but with Acronis True Image 7.0. So there's no problem "installing" the same drive in two different systems? Thanks. There's no problem with acronis true image. When you create your backup image, the program asks you where you want it stored. IF the drive is visible to windows, then acronis can use it. -Dave |

Is this the most convenient/cheapest solution? Thanks all. You have the optimal solution figured out. Use TrueImage from www.acronis.com to do the backups. If the desktop and notebook are on a LAN together of 100BT or faster then a less expensive alternative is a removable HD in a shock mounted tray in the desktop. |

A USB drive is plug and play. It will work fine on any machine.
