Reported CPU Speed Depends on Login Account That I Use
I'm confused - just bought a new PC based on AMD 64X2 4400+. Its mounted in
a MSI K8N Neo motherboard, with a Gig of RAM. If I log in with the first user account I created in Windows XP the CPU speed is correctly reported (by "My Computer"/Properties. MSI's Core application and CPU-Z as 2200 MHz). However, if I login as the second user account they all report that the speed is halved - by reporting a multiplier of 5.0 instead of 11.0. Both accounts have full administrator rights at present - the second account has been run as a limited user for a few sessions, but has been switched back to administrator mode at present. Sisoft Sandra reports the correct speed, and Benchmarks are identical so I know that processor isn't really slowed down, but wonder if this is a symptom of something more seriously wrong in my Windows installation. Has anyone ever come across this before, and if so what can I do about it? Thanks in advance for any replies. Bob |

Thanks for the reply.
No, nothing in the Task Bar - I also pulled up Task Manager, I've got 37 processes running as I type but none look to have any connection with power management. Bob, "Quaoar" wrote in message ...
