"dk" wrote in message ... "Ant C" wrote in message ... "dk" wrote in message ... Hi, I recently had to return a faulty motherboard and power supply from the same order. This cost of returning them soon negates any price advantage buying from them. I know it says in their terms and conditions that buyers pay for returns, but surely this should not be right. Has anybody managed to get the cost refunded. TIA. Des. Was it within 7 days? Yes both items were DOA, I still have not got the PSU back as they sent it to the manufacturer for replacement. Des. Youre entitled to a full refund. ebuyer have to refund you and do do so but sometimes it can be a real pain in the ass. This happend to me and i chased them for about 6 weeks on the postage refund. Each time i spoke to them they promised theyd refund it but never did. I gave up chasing it. Since then i have always made them arrange a courier and collect DOA items rather than me posting back to them. Hopefully they have improved and they will refund you more quickly |

But - and I'm in this position, albeit not with computer kit - what happens if, when travelling in a "remote" part of the country (say, Slough :-) ) you buy some kit, which fails when you get home, and the shop agrees on a refund? Who legally is required to pay transport costs for the return? According to the Sale Of Goods Act you simply need to inform the retailer that the goods are faulty and it's their obligation to arrange and cover costs of the return. I've seen OFT guidance notes which suggest it's reasonable to return goods purchased via a shop in person so it's unlikely they'd pursue a complaint against a retailer who refused, but it's likely you'd be able to recover costs in court if you felt so inclined. -- iv Paul iv [ Mail: ] [ WWW: http://www.hopwood.org.uk/ ] |

Has anybody managed to get the cost refunded. yes - just returned a motherboard (within 30 days) - refunded my credit card for the motherboard and then offered to refund postage (had to send them the receipt) cheers Same here but how do you put the receipt in a closed parcel or do you take a roll of sellotape in the post office with you, and what do you use to prove you posted the parcel in the first place now the combined certificate of posting and receipt are in your parcel ? |
